Look out Big Three: Toyota's Camry joins the NASCAR Nextel Cup and Busch Series, starting with the Daytona 500, February 18th.
The expansion follows the company's 2004 debut of its Tundra pick-up in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Tundra drivers have racked up 21 victories in 67 starts. California-based Toyota Racing Development, which also designed the Tundra, developed the Camry race cars. TRD's High Point, N.C., plant builds the chassis.
This year marks Toyota's 24th year in American professional auto racing. Toyota drivers and teams have won championships in IMSA, CART, IRL and off-road racing, including the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, the Baja 1000, and the Indianapolis 500.
