Dubbed EMAP, for electromechanical assembly press, the device automotive test and assembly operations where precise control of part pressing is vital. An intelligent circuit board the device handles communication among the assembly system PLC, EMAP, and sensors. Up 255 assembly presses can on only one PC. The press comes in 16 sizes ranging 225 to 75,000 lb. Force distance sensors are built in CNC programming can set force and position (both with limits) to hit precision quality control parameters.
The EMAP was developed by Promess Inc., Brighton, Mich. Earlier versions of the device dedicated one PC to handle each press.
