The Optipact motion sensors determine rotational or translational velocities of machinery or products in a wide variety of applications. The sensors are built around an optical system: The velocity of a moving object is determined by monitoring the rate at which an image of the object travels across the surface of the optical sensor.
The sensors measure velocities as high as 4 m/sec in the X and Y directions with a measurement error of less than 1%. The devices are compact and low maintenance. When used with rotating machinery, the sensors function as noncontacting rotary encoders.
