T-gard 20, an electrically conductive insulating coating, has two times (9,000 Vac) the dielectric breakdown voltage of competitive materials. It features a 0.05-mm-thick electrical-grade polyester base with a tensile strength of 30 kpsi to prevent cut-through on screw-mounted TO-220 assemblies. The phase-change coating melts into a greaselike paste at 52°C, and completely wets the interface. This leads to consistent thermal performance on rough and nonflat surfaces, regardless of whether the device is screw or clip mounted. Thermal impedance is 0.6°C-in.2/W.
