The SAE World Congress, which runs from April 16 to 20, offers over 1,500 technical presentations on key automotive-engineering topics.

SAE highlights sustainability at 2007 World Congress

The OEM/Supplier Park at last year's 2006 World Congress featured host company BMW, along with Ford, GM, DaimlerChrysler and Toyota.


Held in Detroit's Cobo Center, the event also boasts 39 seminars, more than 800 exhibiting companies, an OEM/Supplier Park, AVL Theater, FEV Powertrain Innovation Forum, Product Pavilions, Supplier Presentation PODs, SAE Career Center and Career Fair, plus the SAE Store and SAE Booth.

The theme of SAE 2007 is "Engineering for Global Sustainable Mobility — It's Up to Us." Yasuhiko Ichihashi, managing officer of Toyota Motor Corp. and president of Toyota Technical Center, will present the keynote address at the AVL Theater.

The Detroit Section Social Hour and Meeting, SAE Awards Ceremony, International Reception, and Annual Banquet offer opportunities for networking. Attendees can meet with management and engineering staff from Toyota Motor Corp., DaimlerChrysler, BMW Group, Ford Motor Co., and General Motors, as well as Tier 1 suppliers including Alcoa Automotive, Behr America, Continental, Dassault Systemes, Delphi, Henkel, Hitachi, JTEKT Corp., Lear, and others, at the OEM/Supplier Park.

The new Safety Pavilion joins the updated Testing and Simulation Pavilion and the Electronics, Hybrid and Powertrain Pavilions. The FEV Powertrain Innovation Forum features the latest in powertrain technology. Learn about safety, testing, and simulation products and services at the new Supplier Presentation POD.

The SAE Detroit Section monthly meeting on Monday, April 16, at 5 pm, will feature the introduction of the 2007 Toyota Tundra. The SAE Awards Ceremony recognizes excellence in engineering. The event will be hosted by SAE past presidents and SAE Fellows. This is a ticketed event. The International Reception on Wednesday, April 18, at 5 p.m., will facilitate interaction between customers and colleagues from around the globe. And the SAE 2007 World Congress Annual Banquet on Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m., provides networking opportunities with the most influential people in the business during the prebanquet reception and afterglow event. Mr. Katsuaki Watanabe, president of Toyota Motor Corp. is the keynote speaker.
