Robotics competition returns to Automation Fair

Nov. 8, 2007
High-school teams will strut their robotic stuff at the Automation Fair, Nov. 14-15, at New McCormick Place West, Chicago, IL.

The First Robotics competition challenges students to design and build a robot to compete in events that measure the robot’s performance, team strategy, and collaboration.

Several universities, which are part of the Rockwell Automation university relations program, are also taking part. The program gives students exposure to technology, helping them prepare for future jobs in the industry. Participating Schools are Cleveland State University, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Purdue University, Texas A&M University, University of Michigan- Ann Arbor, and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Automation Fair will focus on advanced automation, integrated control and information architecture, and services. The Fair will host over 50 technical sessions, 20 hands-on labs, and more than 100 exhibitors. Attendees can learn how to improve time-to-market, increase profits, manage asssets, and handle risk.

Technical sessions will cover case studies, control design, data management, motor control, maintenance, networks, power and process control, RFIDs, safety, standards, and wireless technologies.
