Navy testing lithiumionpowered vehicles

The U.S. Navy's Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Div. of Commander, Navy Installations Command, is testing hybrid-lithium vehicles from Hybrid Technologies Inc., Las Vegas.

The U.S. Navy's Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Div. of Commander, Navy Installations Command, is testing hybrid-lithium vehicles from Hybrid Technologies Inc., Las Vegas.

The Navy Community Support Program will test a hybrid-lithium-powered PT Cruiser at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Fla. Naval Support Activity Mid-South, Millington, Tenn., will pilot a hybrid-lithium ATV for outdoor recreational use. And in the Mid-Atlantic Region, Norfolk, Va., a lithium-hybrid pickup truck will support the regional Quality of Life team's renovation, repair, and construction of facilities. Hybrid Technology will work with the Navy toward large-scale fleet replacement. Vehicles using fully rechargeable lithium-ion systems will be produced in Hybrid Technologies' Mooresville, N.C., facility.
