CAD Helps Designers Earn ISO 14001

Feb. 7, 2008
Before it cuts any metal or stitches upholstery, medical- furniture manufacturer Famed Zywiec in Poland uses Inventor, a CAD software suite from Autodesk Inc. in San Rafael, Calif.

It also used Inventor to earn ISO 14001 certification in recognition of the company’s sensitivity to the environment. “We used to make four or five physical prototypes of each product,” says R&D Director Piotr Kozbial. “But 3D Inventor models are now our prototypes. This digital prototyping reduces waste, so it’s good for the environment.”

An Inventor digital prototype helped in designing this operating table while helping save energy and resources.
