The X65 conveyor from FlexLink, Allentown, Pa., uses different types of plastic chain including plain, stiff, or flexibly cleated for keeping items apart, and ones with friction strips for moving items up and down inclines. There are also several different types of drives.
The conveyor is 65‑mm wide and up to 120-ft long, It can carry 330 lb, moving 22‑lb products horizontally and 4.4-lb products vertically, but can also carry up to 6.6 lb of products on individualized pallets measuring 100 × 128 mm. The X65 can consistently place loads within 0.3 mm of the target location.
The conveyor moves items at up to 395 fpm and the low friction cuts energy use. It also generates 80% less noise compared to current standard conveyors.
