Small and precise weld joints

Ultrasonic welding for small parts

A new version of the HiQ Dialog Series ultrasonic welding machine reportedly generates strong and reliable welds while applying low forces to the parts. This makes the unit suited for joining small, precision mechanical parts, such as for medical devices or microelectronics.

Proprietary software and a precision actuator let the unit accurately control each step of the 1.2 sec welding process. This makes it possible to slow down the sonotrode right before it touches the part, resulting in soft engagement and a clean weld joint.

Welding forces are as low as 5 N, versus around 20 N with other machines.

The units controller and software also permits documentation and tracking of each welding process, so it’s suited for medical applications that demand validated products.
