The Aegis WTG ring uses conductive microfibers to keep shaft currents from reaching generator bearings. Thousands of 10-μm-wide fibers each conduct current away from the shaft to ground. Field emissions by breakdown and tunneling keep current flowing despite shaft irregularities and misalignments.
