JEOL U.S.A., manufacturer of the University of Texas Center for Learning and Memory’s TEM (above), measured the intensity of the 1.2 to 2.5-Hz horizontal vibrations the equipment experienced in a fifth-floor lab. Before the equipment was isolated with a 0.4-Hz negative-stiffness system, vibration energy was enough to disrupt TEM operation.(See graph below for performance after installation of the Minus K system.)
