Pulling the chain releases the spring-loaded mechanism that raises the ramp. Once the ramp reaches its full height, the lip extender engages and moves the lip into a horizontal position to bridge the gap to the truck-cargo floor. Poor lubrication kept the mechanisms from working properly and led to the worker’s injury.
