Sensors used in hot places, such as this one, have shorter operational lives, typically 2,000 hr or less. These sensors are assembled with the sensing head separated from the electronic amplifier assembly, which can operate at temperatures up to 250°C (482°F). The sensing head is the component affected and ultimately rendered useless by heat, so separating it from the amplifier lets you simply replace the head rather than the entire assembly.
