Researchers use high voltage and low current to create medical plasmas that can kill bacteria without harming tissue. Covering the electrode with a dielectric, switching polarity at 100 kHz, and pulsing the voltage let researchers generate a low-energy, uniform plasma that is between 300 and 1,000°K.
