Rated-torque-over-temperature

One influence on rated torque, MN, is heat dissipation and thermal effects. This example shows curves of a motor whose maximum winding temperature is 125°C. Graphs are of rated torque as a function of the ambient temperature. Curve a is the rated torque with the motor mounted on a plastic flange with free airflow. Curve b is torque when thermal resistance is cut in half through use of a heat sink.
