A pin indenter on a 44-gm projectile and a conical 500-gm projectile tested glasses identical to those that failed to protect the worker. Although the damage these inflicted to the glasses was minor, it’s reasonable to assume that the shattered steel that injured the worker’s eye was traveling with even greater energy than the test projectiles.
