The bus, a product of the design process developed by Altair Engineering in Troy, Mich., came in at 19,000 lb which is about 19,000 lb lighter than comparable buses that carry fewer people. The design process uses Altair's HyperMesh, MotionView (a multibody dynamics modeling and visualization tool), Optistruct, and HarnesLink, along with Metaphase and SolidWorks.
