Cable maker Belden, Lemont, Ill., developed several new kinds of motion-control and industrial networking cables. Among them are Category 5e DataTuff Shielded Twisted Pair Continuous Flex cable (Product No SI7938A) for use in continuous-motion machinery such as C-Track and festoon systems (far left). There’s also a nonmotion-control version (Product No 7939A). New cord sets go with Belden DataTuff Industrial Ethernet Cables. Industrial Ethernet cables include round Category 6 DataTuff Twisted Pair cable (Product No 7940A). Cat 6 Unshielded Twisted Pair (4-Pair UTP) 23- awg cable contains a solid bare-copper conductor and a heavy-duty oil and sunlight-resistant jacket (center). It incorporates a design that bonds insulated conductors of each pair along the full length of the cable. Bonded- Pair cables maintain a consistent distance between conductors, with no twisting or gaps. A new generation of Pico (M8) overmolded cordsets for actuator/sensor applications incorporates optimized insert and metal screw threads with special contours to prevent twisting, while the base of the molded body prevents kinks. The cables have an IP67 / IP68 protection rating. Finally, there are eight new Symmetrical Ground Design, threeconductor 16 to 2-awg cables for variable-frequency motor drives (right). The new cables support MSHA and UL Direct Burial approvals. They feature dual-coppertape shielding for a low-resistance path to ground, which improves common-mode current containment. In addition, the dual spirally applied tapes protect against radiated and conducted noise. Three symmetrical bare ground wires provide a balanced ground system, which reduces ac motor-shaft voltage.
