A recent addition to wireless resources is the wireless-sensor-network (WSN) platform from National Instruments Corp. It includes LabView graphical-programming software and low-power wireless measurement nodes NI‑WSN software is based on IEEE 802.15.4 (ZigBee) technology and gathers measurement data from distributed-measurement nodes. The software also handles mesh routing and managing power usage across the network. Two modules have been released so far: a four-channel, ±10-V analog input node and a four-channel, 24-bit thermocouple node having four digital I/O channels that can be configured for input, sinking output, or sourcing output. The platform also includes an Ethernet gateway, which is used to connect the measurement nodes to LabView.
