The deployable mast is shown in its compressed configuration, which lets it fit in the Pegasus XL launcher, and in its deployed configuration, along with members of the NuSTAR team. It is designed and built by ATK-Goleta, Goleta, Calif., a company that has built deployable structures used on the International Space Station and several Mars landers.
