Current flowing through the motor phase winding is converted to a voltage by RSENSE, a series-connected currentsensing resistor. The voltage is compared to a fixed reference voltage that represents the value of maximum current permitted in the winding. If the sensed voltage exceeds the reference, the two lower MOSFETs are forced to the OFF position, shutting down power to the winding.
