Hasbro's Nerf basketballs are wired with electroluminescent (EL) light from Elam EL Industries Ltd., Jerusalem, Israel. This lets them stand out in darkened rooms and during nighttime play. LyTec EL wires are cool to the touch, and highly flexible. In the Nerf Nite Jam Nerfhoop, the embedded wire sits in the basketball seams and wraps around at near 360° angles.

LyTec wires feature a thin film layer (100th the thickness of a human hair) between three other microlayers. This lets the wire emit continuous EL illuminationfor the entire wire length. In addition to the Nerf ball applications, LyTec EL wires are adding a colorful touch to home dècor as well as gardens and porches. They also help improve visibility to outdoor sporting gear including backpacks, camping tents, and bicycles. LyTec wires are also a hot new trend for lighting up cell phones and highend gaming computers.
