Printer-friendly version

Designed for purpose-built or converted light-duty vehicles, the wheel end brake is an alternative to standard OEM brake systems that require constant maintenance in harsh or corrosive environments. The wet, multiple-disc brakes are completely enclosed and replace standard caliper-disc and drum brakes. The brakes feature a spring-applied, hydraulic release for parking/emergency braking at each wheel. This feature has a maximum static torque rating of 40,000 lb-in. at 0 psi, while the service brake has a maximum dynamic torque rating of 30,000 lb-in. at 1,500 psi. The brake has an initial release pressure of 500 psi and full pressure release of 600 psi at maximum torque. The brake's spring-applied section requires 1.0 to 2.0 in.3 of oil, and its servicebrake section requires 0.23 to 0.46 in.3 Common hydraulic fluid is used for actuation and cooling.
