Virtual pitcher throws real heat
Not content to rest on their laurels, the 26-time world-champion New York Yankees have purchased three PX2pitching simulators from ProBatter Sports, Milford, Conn.

The ProBatter PX2 pitching simulator does everything but scratch. |
The simulators replicate major-league pitching by projecting a DVD-quality image of a real pitcher onto an 8 X 10-ft screen.
The on-screen pitcher winds up (or throws from a stretch) and the ball flies through a small hole in the screen, delivering virtually any type of pitch. Hitters face fastballs, sinkers, cutters, curves, sliders, and change-ups, delivered at speeds up to 100 mph. The machine delivers pitches to preselected locations inside and outside the strike zone with pinpoint accuracy.
