With designers looking for compact bearings for turntable applications such as positioning and inspection tables or radar antenna mounts, Kaydon Bearings Div., Muskegon, Mich. (kaydon.com), designed the Real-Slim TT Series of thinsection bearings. Bores range from 1.5 to 6 in., and the units are 0.25-in. tall. They feature an extended radial-bearing section that increases rigidity. Optional preloads and clearances can be ordered to meet torque and deflection requirements. They also have steel races and steel-reinforced seals, letting the bearings withstand harsh operating environments.

The bearings use a single fourpointcontact-ball radial design with a single row of balls and a gothic-arch raceway. One-piece separators reduce friction, and the thin-section bearings can be equipped with internal or external spur gears. Bearings are cleaned and packaged in a Class-10,000 clean room, and up to Class-100 clean-room standards are available.
