Single-Point Lubrication

November 15, 2002

Printer-friendly version

Single-point lubrication is similar to separate lubrication because each friction point is distinct. However, in single-point lubrication, an oil or grease reservoir delivers lubricant over some time period and the reservoir is refilled periodically.

For grease lubrication, pressurized injectors or grease cups are used. Grease flow rate is controlled by spring pressure and an orifice. Oil systems use a container plus an orifice or wick to control the flow.
