New Product: Self-Lubed Bearing Materials Take 350°F

May 22, 2008

Metcar M-161 and M-162 carbon/graphite Babbit-impregnated materials can operate in environments where conventional lubricating methods can’t serve.

Printer-friendly version

The proprietary Babbit impregnation lets the materials resist wear and reduces friction between parts that run submerged in lowviscosity fluids such as water and fuels or in dry environments. The self-lubricated Metcar grades can also take operating temperatures up to 350°F and are typically used for moderate loads at medium and high speeds. Bearings made from Metcar materials are also nongalling, dimensionally stable, have high compressive strength, and will provide continuous lubrication for the bearing’s service life.
