Low-profile rodless cylinders

July 22, 1989

Printer-friendly version

One of the reasons for the success of rodless pneumatic linear drives is the installed length is only slightly longer than the stroke. For applications with height restrictions, Festo, Hauppauge, N.Y., has developed a low-profile slide with the cylinder and a precision recirculating-ball guide arranged in parallel. Three sizes feature heights of 15, 18.5, and 25.6 mm, piston diameters of 8, 12, and 18 mm, and maximum strokes of 500, 700, and 900 mm. End position sensors and shock absorbers are integrated into the slide and through-holes in the profile enable direct mounting. Combining two units permits X-Y motion, and air supply can be connected in the front, rear, or side.
