The low-profile QSFP direct-attach copper cable assembly is “fiberlike” in size for QDR InfiniBand and 40 GbE aggregate applications. For use in dense, higher-port-count switch installations, the cable provides an even more-reliable interconnect for high-performance computing (HPC). The 4× channel, eight-pair cable has a 0.170-in. diameter, and is targeted at HPC applications where high-density port-count interconnects are 2 m or less.
The reduced bend radius and smaller diameter of the cable allows for aggressive routing as well as cleaner dressing of the cables in HPC environments. This cable is also less prone to interfere with the closing of cabinet doors in dense environments.
