Kinematic Mount

February 17, 2005

Staff

Spherolinder repeatable kinematic mounts eliminate the point contacts of spherical mounts and replace them with line contacts, dramatically reducing stress concentration and possible plastic deformation in three-groove kinematic assemblies.

Printer-friendly version

Oneinch repeatable mounts handle up to 2,000 lb/connector (6,000-lb total) compared with about 20 lb for conventional sphere-based designs. Applications include the elimination of recalibration in heavy removable components, aligning instruments subjected to dynamic loads, and optical instruments sensitive to warping under mount loads. The connectors come in stainless steel, tungsten carbide, high-temperature ceramics, and engineering plastics.
