Turning physical shapes and prototypes into digital data just got a little more convenient, thanks to Faro Technologies Inc., Lake Mary, Fla. (faro.com), and its Faro Gage Personal CMM. It lets technicians and shop personnel measure thousands of points on 3D objects, anything that fits within the device’s 48-in. reach, with 0.0002-in. accuracy. The arm is counterbalanced, so moving it is relatively effortless. It includes software and a touchscreen computer that records user measurements and prepares comprehensive reports. It operates in temperatures from 10 to 40°C and the housing provides IP64 protection.
