Cushioned clutch

February 17, 2005

Staff

A slip clutch in a machine system can provide not just overload protection, but also higher machine speeds.

Printer-friendly version

The friction surfaces developed by a Polyclutch result in static friction being less than dynamic friction. This means suddenly applied loads are cushioned. Tension on paper, wire film, and thread, is gradually applied and is half of a suddenly applied load. The machine can then run much faster without overloading the material. The machine itself is also cushioned from shock, allowing higher speeds and providing longer life for machine parts and tooling.
