Chinese-Built 60 mpg Wildfire Puts a New Face on Motorcycles
Appears in Print As: A motorcycle in disguise gets 60 mpg
The Chinese-built Wildfire is actually a three-wheeled motorcycle with some added coachwork. Perhaps its most noteworthy feature is its 60-mpg rating. There are two versions, a sedan for $7,781 and a delivery truck for $7,160. Each is powered by a 26-hp, 650-cc, water-cooled four-stroke twin engine. A four-speed manual transmission includes reverse. Front and rear drum brakes provide stopping power. Cruising speed is 45 mph, and top speed is 65 mph. The delivery version, which has collapsible bed sides, can carry a 1,000-lb load. The vehicles are street legal in every state except California, a state in which the company has yet to get the vehicles approved and certified.![]()

Wildfire
In the USA Greed runs rampant which makes profit not only a BAD word but an EVIL word. You know the funny thing is just like smokers who MUST have their nicotine fix, the gas hogging large vehicle drivers in the USA must have thier fix. You can watch them as they dry-heave each month as they make ALL their payments on there Jonesy toys. I laugh all the way to the bank ! ! ! ! ! ! !
3 wheelers were used in
3 wheelers were used in Brittan in the 50s and 60s they were very dangerous especially at speed over 40 mph.
I wouldnt trust putting my
I wouldnt trust putting my family in that thing.
chinese 'car'
I drive a 1993 Ford Escort station wagon, 5 speed manual transmission, which has 189,000 miles on it. It averages over 36 miles per gallon and in strictly highway driving will get over 40 mpg. It would seem plausible then that after 16 years the automobile manufacturers in this country could have come up with something that gets 50 or 60 mpg in the same USABLE size as the Escort.
Great product, like to own
Great product, like to own one when it is available.
Wildfire 60 MPG
Is that so good, a Ford Focus (1.6 diesel) will do better than that 65MPG and it's a proper car
Wild Fire
At least the Chinese are looking at economical vehicles, the U.S. auto industry has been forcing overpriced, overweight, poorly built fuel guzzling behemoths at us for close to a decade now under the guise that no one want's hybrids, plug-ins or hi-milage diesels, yet look at any stretch of freeway and you'll see at least one Toyota or Honda Hybrid for every ten guzzlers out there. Think about it just for a second, despite being vastly overpriced and with pathetic dealer incentives or government rebates, those people chose to go the extra mile just to get one. Just think how many would be on the road if some one actually made it easy to get one, what no waiting list? wow!!. And the U.S. Automotive industry wants us to believe there’s no market.
So much for freedom of choice, I guess the only sheep around hear are the one's buying the auto industries B.S. and buying the guzzlers, they must go well with the Mac-Mansions, and we all know where those got us, rite Comrades?
McMansions
You're a jealous, lazy idiot. I'm refering largely to your phrase..."So much for freedom of choice, I guess the only sheep around hear are the one's buying the auto industries B.S. and buying the guzzlers, they must go well with the Mac-Mansions, and we all know where those got us, rite Comrades? " The McMansions didn't get anyone anywhere. It's people who got themselves into (and some right back out of ) the McMansions. During the process, by the way, these people who you think are so selfish, created jobs for people like you that were not enterprising enough to do any better. You speak of freedom of choice? You made the choices that keep you in a trailer instead of a McMansion. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing bad about living in a trailer. I almost do myself. It's all about what you want and how hard you want to work for it. You can't convince me or anyone else that you wouldn't take a mansion, if given one by the Government using our money, but nothing's free, pal. McMansions cost money and hard work. Alot of it by the PAID caretakers who enjoy jobs there. Want a Hybrid? Work hard and buy one. Want a Corvette, or mansion? Do it, and let me do the same. That's freedom of choice. Envying the people who worked hard for what they have won't get you what they have, or make them settle for what you decide is good enough for you. This is reality. No, it's not a perfect world, but bitching about it won't change that. Everyone who has made a positive impact on it was/is successful. We are all brought down by those of you who believe eutopias exist. Eat your tofu, teach your kids to have kids with their gay partners, drive your slow econimical cars, keep on living a life of discontent, if you wish, but stay out of the way of those of us that find happiness by working for and wanting what we have, not disgust by not being given what we want. That's your world, buddy. You guys fought in the sixties, and lost. It's over. Oh yeah,... the world is not warming beyond it's natural tendency to do so, no matter how many times you say it, or hear that someone "proved" it. What has been proven is that there is nothing man has ever done that has influenced the environment to any degree that is even measurable. That's why there is still a debate, because you guys won't shut up, regardless of what the facts are. We will someday run out of oil. If we still need to get around, we will find a way to do so. That's how we got cars in the first place. Take away the necessity to find a way, and you end up with a bunch of lost people. By the way, the US auto industry has never "forced" any one to buy anything. In 1985, Honda was making 55 MPG CRX's. Most are still running today. Here's the problem: they were not what most people wanted then, and they are not what most want now. It's you, my friend that is trying to force a certain type of car on us, not the car companies. People buy what they want, and companies sell what people buy. No matter how hard you or Obama tries, NOTHING can ever change the way that works. If you don't understand that, you'll just have to accept it. Get a job, and if you already have one, work harder at it. No, you shouldn't get paid what I do, unless you do what I do as well as I do, and I shouldn't have to settle for what you have or want.
Wildfire, I think I love you....
NO!
I will not give up my God-Given right to drive my God-Blessed American bargemobile, no matter how much of my family's budget I have to sacrifice. At least when our God-Blessed America dies, it'll be a God-Blessed American death by God-Blessed American technology. I won't be driving no heathen car.

Let's wean ourselves off our beloved luxury monster trucks
You know, if everybody was required to actually be able th DRIVE before they were granted a driver's license, we wouldn't need to drive "tanks" in North America to be "safe". Then, maybe, someone over here would build affordable runabouts like this.
