Bearings For Hydropower Applications

September 15, 2005

Staff

HPF and HPM self-lubricating, fiber/resin composite bearing materials excel in hydropower applications such as Francis, Kaplan, and Pelton turbines, as well as gates and valves.

Printer-friendly version

HPF consists of a proprietary filled PTFE liner bonded to a fiberglassreinforced composite backing. It comes in both flat and cylindrical geometries. HPM consists of a bearing liner composed of PTFE and high-strength fiber winding encapsulated in an epoxy resin blended with self-lubricating filler. It is available only in cylindrical form.

The maintenance-free materials give high load capacity, low wear rate and friction, long service life, low water absorption for dimensional stability, and excellent corrosion resistance.
