Antivibration mounts meet military needs
Appears in Print As: Antivibration mounts meet military needs
Elliptic-leaf antivibration mounts from Advanced Antivibration Components, New Hyde Park, N.Y. (www.vibrationmounts.com), resist corrosion and operate efficiently under a wide range of temperatures, which helped them earn NATO approval for mounting naval equipment. The design uses two or more high-range tensile stainless-steel leaves. The U-shaped leaves are joined to form an oval. A specially developed polymer or stainless-steel mesh fill the spaces between the leaves and act as damping compounds. There are 17 different mounts, with the load ranges stretching from 20 to 40 lb for the smallest to 850 to 1,200 lb for the largest.
