The Model SSB stepper and servo front-end brake from Electroid Co.

The Model SSB stepper and servo front-end brake from Electroid Co., Springfield, N.J., uses a zero-backlash permanent-magnet brake and torsionally rigid coupling to accept misalignment. Dual bearings handle greater overhang loads created by drive-belt pulleys, gearheads, and chain sprockets. The brake is said to provide fast response time and low inertia. Applications include robotics, linear and rotary actuators, material handling, multiaxis positioning tables, spindle drives, CNC tools and systems, continuous transfer assembly, automated assembly equipment, carousel and indexing equipment, and precision applications.
