Shutoff valve keeps operations safe

Sept. 15, 2005
A safety shutoff valve can operate for 20,000 hr before replacement.

It comes in 12 and 24-Vdc models from Parker Hannifin Alternative Energy Systems/Fuel Cell Business Unit, New Britain, Conn. (parker.com), and can be equipped with a high-pressure gas filter. Bubbletight sealing lets it handle service pressures up to 4,500 psig. It is made of 430F stainless steel and uses a proprietary orifice seat material. To meet demands of the natural-gas industry, the valve has a burst pressure of 22,500 psi and withstands a maximum media and ambient temperature of 170°F (77°C). The valve has a two-year warranty, and ISO 15500 testing is pending.
