Tamper-proof, high-frequency RFID labels attach to printer ribbons so that printers with reader modules can distinguish between original ribbons and counterfeits.
The 13.56-MHz RFID system is for high-end printers that produce bankcards and official ID documents, where the use of counterfeit ribbons degrades print quality. The transponder is available as a standard label made from a material with printing properties that are similar to those of paper. Custom versions include a robust polymer-laminated ring label. The HF label comes with a small SK1 flip-chip module that is 10-mm wide and less than 1.2-mm thick.
