Redundant Sensor

June 5, 2008
The redesigned Temposonics MT magnetostrictive position sensor provides fully redundant measurement capabilities.

Two electrically independent sensors in a common mechanical housing provide redundant outputs. It embeds in welded and tie-rod cylinders and, with a 48-mm diameter, is smaller than previous 58-mm versions. A position magnet on the piston head travels along the sensor rod without making contact. Measuring range is 50 to 1,500 mm with high accuracy and repeatability. The MT sensor operates over a wide temperature range (–40 to 105°C) typical of mobile hydraulics.
