Real-Time Load Measurements

Jan. 26, 2006
The M870 family of capacitive load sensors measures loads up to 250 lb.
Users need only supply a 5 Vdc to the sensor to read a 0 to 5-Vdc output signal with a voltmeter. The signal can also be sent into data-acquisition or control systems. The sensor offers high sensitivities in a compact package (2 2 0.4 in.) and comes in 10, 50, and 250-lb capacities. Sensors can be customized for loads <10 lb or >250 lb. The sensors also offer between 2,000 and 4,000 mV of output change from baseline to full load with a noise of only ±2 mV, enabling 0.1% sensitivity and 1% accuracy (including hysteresis, temperature effects, and nonlinearity).
