Quadrature Counter IC

June 2, 2005
The LS7366 CMOS high-speed up/down counter functions as a true 1, 2, 3, or 4-byte counter with the carry, borrow, and sign flags based upon the byte configuration.

Fully programmable count modes include nonquadrature, quadrature, free-running, single-cycle, modulo-n, and range-limit. The chip uses a four-wire serial interface to communicate with the host controller. An open-drain flag lets multiple devices interrupt the host controller using a single wire-or'd interrupt line. The LS7366 operates from 3 to 5.5 V with a count frequency of 40 MHz at 5 V. It is available in 14-pin DIP, SOIC, and TSSOP packages.
