Painted Fas-ners insert into prepainted metal assemblies to eliminate postpaint operations.

PAINTED FASTENERS SPEED ASSEMBLY

The fasteners join similar or dissimilar metals and thicknesses reportedly forming an almost air and watertight joint with good vibration resistance and minimal distortion to the substrates. The self-piercing fasteners eliminate spot welding and riveting operations. To install the Fas-ners a machine uses a punch-and-die operation that feeds, punches, inserts, and locks fasteners into a solid joint in a single high-cycle operation. The machines range from single-hit units to completely automated turnkey systems.
