New Ultra-Compact Servo Motors Deliver Maximum Power

Dec. 9, 2004
Rexroth's new IndraDyn S series of synchronous servo motors are completely scalable in power, performance, and precision to meet the specific requirements of your application. Each motor pole is individually wound prior to stator assembly to eliminate end turns and maximize copper content; this provides the greatest power output in the shortest possible motor design.

New ultra-compact servo motors deliver maximum power

The IndraDyn S is available in a wide range of frame sizes and lengths to achieve torque ratings from 0.1 up to 240 Nm. In addition, the larger motor sizes are available with high- or low-inertia rotors for optimized inertia matching. For example, machine tools, printing machines and robotic applications require a higher moment of inertia to provide maximum control of the load. In contrast, a low moment of inertia provides the highest possible acceleration, which is a requirement for packaging machines and handling systems.

The IndraDyn S motors are available in both basic and advanced versions to deliver scalable performance and precision. The basic version, designed for standard applications, offers flange and rotational accuracy according to tolerance class N and is equipped with Hiperface encoders delivering 128 increments per revolution - 32 times more precision than the previous, resolver-based motor generations. The advanced version, designed for high-precision applications, is equipped with a high-resolution EnDat encoder delivering 2048 increments per revolution plus flange and rotational accuracy within tolerance class R. Both feedback options are available in incremental (single-turn) or absolute (multi-turn) versions. In addition, the feedback and power connectors can be rotated up to 240°. To further enhance performance, IndraDyn S motors can be optionally equipped with external blowers and, to maximize performance, liquid-cooled versions are available.

The new IndraDyn S series of motors are part of Rexroth's newly-developed line of IndraDyn motors consisting of asynchronous and synchronous torque, high-speed and linear motors.
