Motion Control For Canbus

Motion ICs for one, two, three, and four-axis configurations directly support a CANBus interface.

They control dc brush, brushless dc, microstepping, and pulse-and-direction motors providing profile generation, servoloop closure, PLC-style signal manipulation, and motor-signal generation. Besides CANBus communications, Magellan motion processors provide standard features such as a programmable PID filter with velocity and acceleration feedforward, and advanced features such as 32-bit position error, dual bi-quad filters, 50- sec loop time, and multiaxis synchronization. Trace capabilities also provide on-the-fly data storage for analyzing system performance, tuning servo filters, and for diagnostics and maintenance. Processors support four selectable profile modes of S-curve, trapezoidal, velocity contouring, and electronic gearing. Processors accept feedback from an incremental encoder at up to 5 megacounts/sec or from an absolute encoder or resolver at 160 megacounts/sec.
