Modules Handle Thermocouple Inputs

May 20, 2004
BusWorks 965EN input modules interface thermocouple and millivolt signals directly to an Ethernet Modbus/TCP 10/100 network.

The six-channel, inchwide I/O modules operate independently of any bus coupler or I/O rack and don't require a special system power supply. Units accept inputs from Type J, K, T, R, S, E, B, or N thermocouples and bipolar ± 100-mV or ± 1-Vdc signals. Three-way 1,500-Vac isolation between input, network, and power circuits protects against surges and ground loops. A fail-safe mode ensures outputs are sent to a safe state in case of failure. An internal microcontroller has integrated nonvolatile memory for reliable storage of configuration parametersand can be reprogrammed repeatedly. LEDs indicate power, network activity, and individual channel status.
