Mechanical Seal

May 11, 2006
The QBQLZ contacting-face mechanical seal provides highreliability with low emissions.

The seals are for use with light hydrocarbons of specific gravities between 0.40 and 0.60, such as ethane, ethylene, propane, propylene, and butane — liquids that have a tendency to flash from liquid to vapor at ambient pressure and temperature conditions. The seal features Precision Face Topography where smooth, lowamplitude patented wave patterns are laser-machined onto the seal face, creating a stable hydrodynamic effect. The seals operate in light hydrocarbon services with lower vaporpressure margins — between 5 and 50 psi. Operating range includes pressures from 0 to 750 psi, temperatures between 40 and 400°F, speeds between 20 and 75 fps, and sizes between 1.750 and 5.125 in.
