Moldite is a lightweight, highstrength thermal-set resin with a high stiffness-to-weight ratio.

Moldite is a lightweight, highstrength thermal-set resin with a high stiffness-to-weight ratio. It is an alternative to ultrahigh-strength steel and aluminum. Specific gravity for most Moldite structures is less than 1. It can be formulated to exceed the tensile strength of flanking long-fiber materials including carbon, glass, or aramid fibers. Moldite's structural stability delivers fire-retardant and corrosion-resistant properties including resistance to harsh chemicals, caustics, mold, mildew, and most environmental conditions. It can also be used for energy blocking and temperature insulation. Moldite has high impact resistance, yet is highly machinable.
