Knife Switches

Nov. 17, 2005
Type A and Type DL heavy-duty knife switches are configured for single or double throw.

The design allows for modifications to handle polarity reversals, high frequency, high voltage, air operation, and remote operation. Type A switches are front connected with adjustable silver-plated contacts and insulated bases and have a 30 through 30k-A rating. Back-connected Type DL switches have no base plates and a 30 through 10k-A rating. Available options include a padlock attachment, a front-mounted handle (for single-throw switches only), auxiliary limit switch or lowcurrent knife switch actuated by the main switch (for remote indication), handle guard (standard on 600-V and above switches), and a field-discharge attachment for opening a generator field.
