High-Temperature PPS Fibers

Feb. 9, 2006
Fortron polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) based fibers are now available in Europe.

They serve in applications needing hightemperature stability, broad chemical resistance, stiffness, strength, and creep resistance at elevated temperatures. Fortron, a high-temperature linear PPS, is dimensionally stable and inherently flame, chemical, and solvent resistant. The polymer fibers are insoluble in all known solvents below 540°F (200°C) and are dimensionally stable in most automotive fuels. In addition to fibers, Fortron PPS is available as an injection-moldable resin that can be reinforced with glass fibers or mineral fillers. Specialty grades with improved lubricity, low warpage, and faster cycling, as well as those with ISO 10993 and USP Class VI, and Drug (DMF 14844) and Device (MAF-1097) Master Files certification, are available.
